Personal Caregiver

Park Village Pines is looking for a dedicated and compassionate caregiver to become part of our Senior Living community in Kalamazoo. In this role you will provide personal assistance with daily living activities, foster a safe, supportive, and comforting environment, and offer emotional and social support that enriches the lives of our residents.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to residents including bathing, oral hygiene, hair grooming, skin and nail care, toileting, dressing and undressing, and shaving
• Answer call lights to determine and meet resident needs
• Transport/transfer residents using wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and stand-by assist
• Assist and encourage residents in keeping their rooms clean and orderly, providing a comfortable living environment
• Change bed linens and make beds
• Monitor residents and report any changes in skin condition, appetite, behavior, emotional needs, etc.
• Assist with meals and collect food trays from residents’ rooms
• Be aware of resident’s needs and respond quickly, appropriately, and with compassionate support
• Respond rapidly and appropriately to emergencies while maintaining resident and co-worker safety at all times
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times, including not discussing residents’ circumstances with other departments or non-authorized individuals and maintaining confidentiality
• Maintain a clean work area and help support a clean and comfortable environment for all residents and staff
• Use safe and appropriate body mechanics when lifting and/or transferring residents
• Follow all infectious control protocol and policies
• Complete daily charting and paperwork as required in a timely manner
• Consistently demonstrate a positive and compassionate attitude toward residents, co-workers, families, and the public

Schedule

This position requires availability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled. Full-time and part-time shifts available.

Requirements

• Ability to lift, push/pull up to 100 lbs while assisting residents
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 15 lbs, including basins, resident care items, charts, thermometers, etc.
• Ability to stand and/or walk up to 90% of an eight (8) hour shift
