Personal Care Attendant

Job Summary

Primary function is to provide non-health care related services to the client in their place of residence or a facility; to assist in providing a safe and clean environment, work cooperatively with client and family and share observations and problems with the supervisor. Works under the direction of a registered nurse.

Job Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma preferred.
• Licensure: Must have current drivers license.
• Experience: One year experience preferred.
• Skills: Must be able to read and write in English and follow written and verbal instructions in English effectively. Demonstrates interest in the welfare of ill and elderly. Hepatitis B consent/declination.
• Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid current auto liability insurance.

Environmental and Working Conditions

• Works in patient’s homes in various conditions, possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and infectious diseases, the ability to work a flexible schedule, the ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.

Physical and Mental Effort

• Prolonged standing and walking required.
• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines, to identify patient needs, to make quick decisions and meet patient/family psycho social needs.
• Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

• Promotes positive, supportive, respectful communication to patient/family and other employees.
• Provides an environment which promotes respect for patient, privacy and property.
• Demonstrates effective time management skills.
• Reports unsafe conditions and problems to agency management.
• Demonstrates commitment, professional growth and competency through attending required inservices.
• Promotes the agency philosophy and administrative policies to ensure quality of care.

Pay

All Shifts needed, pay rates averaging $13-$+16 per hour!
