About the role
As a Personal Care Attendant, you'll provide compassionate, one-on-one support to clients in the comfort of their own homes. More than just a caregiver, you'll become a trusted source of comfort, companionship, and encouragement, helping clients maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, and other activities of daily living
- Support clients with light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and cooking
- Run errands and provide assistance with daily routines
- Offer meaningful companionship and emotional support
- Monitor client well-being and communicate changes to your supervisor
- Follow each client's individualized Plan of Care to ensure safe, high-quality care
Requirements
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics, safe use of mechanical and adaptive equipment, and infection control practices, including universal precautions
- The ability to provide emotional support and foster positive social interactions with clients and their families
- Experience assisting with bathing, dressing, ambulation, transfers, self-administered medications, and other personal care needs outlined in a Plan of Care
- Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations
- Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and occasional schedule adjustments in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of and commitment to emergency reporting procedures
- A compassionate, dependable, and client-focused approach to care
Qualifications
- High school education or GED equivalent
- Previous experience working with the elderly and/or adults with disabilities preferred
Skills
