Personal Care Attendant

About the role

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) plays a crucial role in supporting the physical and emotional well-being of residents in a warm, home-like environment. This role is part of an interdisciplinary care team dedicated to providing exceptional care and fostering meaningful connections.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
• Provide compassionate physical and emotional support while preserving resident dignity
• Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company policies
• Monitor resident safety and observe for signs of distress or changes in condition
• Accurately document resident care, activities, and changes as required
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff and fellow caregivers regarding resident needs
• Engage residents in activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being
• Safeguard a clean, safe, and welcoming living environment

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• CPR and BLS certifications are a plus — training available

Physical Demands

• Lift up to 25 lbs. and assist with resident transfers as needed
• Push, pull, and maneuver up to 100 lbs., including resident mobility assistance
• Maneuver resident wheelchairs weighing up to 350 lbs.

Work Environment

This role is performed in an indoor senior living environment designed to promote comfort, safety, and engagement. Duties may include accompanying residents to supervised indoor or outdoor activities.
