Personal Care Assistant

About the role

The Personal Care Assistant role involves providing essential caregiving services to clients, following individualized care plans, and ensuring a safe, clean environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care such as bathing, grooming, ambulating, meal preparation (including special diets), feeding, oral hygiene, and using mobility aids like walkers and wheelchairs
• Perform secondary household tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and grocery shopping
• Maintain safety protocols, infection control, and client confidentiality, respecting their privacy and rights
• Document daily tasks via EVV or electronic timesheets
• Report any health or safety concerns and notify supervisors of significant changes in client conditions
• Only assist with self-administration of medications; never administer medications directly

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 6 months of caregiving experience
• 18 years or older

Skills

• Strong communication
• Adherence to safety and infection control procedures
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with supervisors

All duties are performed under the supervision of the Home Care Manager or designated staff to ensure quality and compliance.
