Personal Care Assistant
Position Summary
The Personal Care Assistant / Personal Attendant provides in-home support to individuals who need assistance with activities of daily living, personal care, safety supervision, companionship, and routine daily tasks. Team members follow the client’s care plan and receive direction, training, and supervision from the organization’s nursing and office leadership.

Responsibilities
Aid clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, mobility support, and other assigned personal care tasks.
Follow the client’s established care plan or service plan.
Promote client health, safety, dignity, comfort, and independence.
Record and report important information related to client care, condition, safety, or progress.
Maintain accurate and complete documentation in the electronic health record or case record system.
Check and record vital signs only if required by the specific client’s care plan and allowed by training and role expectations.
Communicate concerns, incidents, changes in condition, refusals of care, or safety issues to supervisory staff.
Maintain a safe and healthy environment for the client.
Follow applicable organization policies, confidentiality requirements, and regulatory standards.
Work independently while also receiving direction from the Director of Nursing, office manager, scheduler, or supervisor.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Reliable transportation to and from client homes
- Ability to complete required background screening and TB screening/clearance documentation after a conditional offer
- Personal Care Assistant certification, PCA training, or ability to complete organization-required training
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Prior caregiving, personal care, DSP, CNA, PCA, HHA, or companion care experience preferred
Pay and Schedule
Pay range: $15.00–$20.00 per hour
Paid orientation and required training
Pay may vary based on client assignment, qualifications, availability, type of work performed, and approved differentials
Additional client-need or performance differentials may apply for higher-support assignments, evenings, weekends, urgent coverage, or complex care needs
Part-time, full-time, PRN, evening, weekend, overnight, and flexible schedules may be available
Overtime, when applicable, is paid in accordance with federal and Virginia wage and hour laws
