Personal Care Aide Responsibilities

As a Personal Care Aide, you will provide hands-on assistance and support to residents while promoting their independence, dignity, comfort, and quality of life.

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene
  • Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and other daily needs as appropriate
  • Provide compassionate assistance while encouraging residents to maintain as much independence as possible
  • Observe residents and promptly report changes in physical, emotional, or psychosocial condition to the appropriate team member
  • Respond to resident requests for assistance in a timely and courteous manner
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents
  • Monitor resident care supplies and notify appropriate team members when additional supplies are needed
  • Provide companionship and interact positively with residents throughout the day
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers
  • Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, infection prevention practices, and resident care standards
  • Work independently while contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment
  • Perform additional resident care duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

  • Previous personal care, assisted living, senior living, home care, or healthcare experience preferred, but not required
  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Compassionate and patient with a genuine interest in working with older adults
  • Dependable and committed to providing consistent, high-quality resident care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and resident dignity at all times
