Role Overview
Personal, Hands-On Support
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene.
- Help with mobility, transfers, positioning, and safe ambulation.
- Support with meal preparation, feeding (if needed), and encouraging fluid intake as directed.
- Perform light housekeeping related to the client’s care (e.g., linens, dishes, tidying the client’s area).
- Maintain a safe environment, watching for fall risks or hazards in the home.
- Follow infection control practices and agency safety protocols.
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support.
- Observe and report changes in the client’s condition, mood, appetite, or home situation to the supervising nurse or office immediately.
- Complete visit notes accurately and on time using agency forms or electronic systems.
- Follow the care plan developed by the RN and agency, and communicate any concerns promptly.
Candidate Profile
- Qualifications: Current Personal Care Aide, Home Health Aide, or Nurse Aide training that meets Virginia requirements (or willingness to complete approved PCA training if applicable).
- Experience: Previous experience in home care, facility care, or caregiving preferred, but motivated new caregivers with proper training will be considered.
- Professional Attributes: Compassionate, patient, and respectful in all interactions. Reliable, punctual, and able to follow a care plan and instructions from supervising nurses. Strong communication skills and comfort working independently in clients’ homes.
Availability & Location
- Availability: Reliability for part-time or full-time hours; some evening or weekend shifts may be needed based on client needs.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation to travel to client homes in Suffolk and Franklin, VA and surrounding areas.
