Holy Family Villa, a private home for retired priests, has part-time Personal Care Aide positions available.

About the role

The Personal Care Aide provides routine assistance with the activities of daily living in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local standards, and established policies and procedures as directed by the Nursing Supervisor or Director of Priest Services to assure that the highest degree of resident care is maintained at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.
  • Ensure all department personnel, residents, and visitors follow established policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident and staff information.
  • Adhere to the Diocese of Allentown and Holy Family Villa's Code of Conduct statement.
  • Follow the Diocese of Allentown Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minors and Harassment policy, including attendance at Protecting God's Children seminar.
  • Demonstrate dependability and punctuality by coming to work as scheduled.
  • Maintain a neat, clean uniform and present an appropriate appearance (loose-fitting scrubs and closed-toe shoes).
  • Check residents routinely: self-care residents at least every shift, total-care residents at least once an hour.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, oral care, repositioning, shaving, fingernail and hair care, and toileting.
  • Obtain vital signs each shift on designated residents.
  • Report any abnormalities noticed during care (e.g., bruises, pressure areas, changes in condition) to the Nursing Supervisor or Director of Priest Services.
  • Assist in preparing residents for meals, serve meals, and monitor intake if necessary.
  • Attend all mandatory in-service programs as scheduled.
  • Transport residents to and from physician appointments as needed.
  • Perform daily charting as directed.
  • Be alert to potential hazards and take appropriate action to prevent accidents and injury.
  • Maintain resident bathrooms and living quarters, including laundering soiled clothing or bedding and changing linens weekly.
  • Assist with housekeeping duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting in common areas when directed.
  • Ensure Resident Rights are protected.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED certificate, or active registry status on the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must obtain CPR, First Aid, Diabetes Education/Insulin Injection, and Medication Administration Certification within 6 months of start date.
  • Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, Drug Screening, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check (no less than 1 year old).
  • Attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.
  • Sincere desire to work with the elderly.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Ability to function independently, with flexibility, personal integrity, and work effectively with residents, staff, physicians, and visitors.
  • Limited personal cell phone use to breaks, lunch periods, or emergencies.
  • Ability to work every other weekend and every other holiday, including rotating Christmas shifts.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and lift intermittently throughout the work shift, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess sight and hearing senses (or use prosthetics) to adequately meet position requirements.
  • Good general health and emotional stability.

Schedule

Part-time night shift (11 PM – 7 AM), 16 hours per week; every other weekend (Friday & Saturday) and every other holiday.

Pay

Hourly rates begin at $14.50 to $18.00, depending on experience. Double-time pay on holidays.

Benefits

  • One hour of paid breaks per shift.
  • After 90 days, eligible for 16 hours vacation, 16 hours personal time, and 8 hours sick time.
  • Training provided to become a Medication Assistant with a salary increase upon completion.
