Personal Care Aide

About the role

Ignite Education Solutions is hiring Personal Care Aides to work with students in the Westmont Hilltop School District. Hours are based on school district schedules.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene tasks such as toileting, grooming, and dressing
• Support students in mobility and transferring as needed
• Provide physical and emotional support to students with disabilities in moving around the school, classrooms, and other facilities
• Offer encouragement and support to students facing challenges
• Follow individualized care plans developed in collaboration with teachers, school nurses, and other healthcare professionals
• Ensure unique needs of each student are met
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to facilitate students’ participation in classroom activities
• Assist with instructional materials and adaptive equipment as required
• Maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and school staff regarding students’ progress and any concerns
• Attend meetings with the educational team to discuss and update care plans
• Encourage and empower students to develop and maintain independence in daily activities whenever possible
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

• High school diploma (minimum education requirement)
• Willingness to complete and pass required clearances and training, including mandated reporter training, physical, and TB test (typically completed within a week)
• Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stopping for long periods throughout the eight-hour day
• Previous experience working with individuals with special needs or disabilities is preferred
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students with diverse needs
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively with a team, and adapt to changing situations
• Understanding of confidentiality and privacy requirements related to student information

Pay

Pay range starts at $14.00 per hour.
