About the role

This position is 100% in-office at the WesBanco location in Tallmadge, OH. The Personal Banker helps foster a positive work environment that inspires, motivates, challenges, supports, and provides ongoing recognition for exceptional performance. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service, identifying sales opportunities, performing account transactions, and executing consumer-based and business relationship-building efforts in a full-service banking center.

The role focuses on daily sales initiatives and assumes a proactive role in customer interaction and service, including meeting with customers to discuss their specific banking needs in person and via phone. The Personal Banker will spend significant time initiating outbound telephone calls for customer onboarding, prospecting new retail customers, and cross-selling to new and existing retail banking relationships. The role also involves assisting the Banking Center Manager in targeted outside sales activities and participating in community service opportunities.

Operationally, the Personal Banker must comply with all established bank policies, procedures, and security measures while supporting the banking center's sales and operational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Personally model the standards of the Bank’s Mission, Vision, and Pledge.
  • Assess the financial needs of Banking Center clients and make appropriate recommendations to fulfill those needs.
  • Consistently meet and exceed defined sales goals for loans, deposits, partner referrals, and profitability.
  • Promote a sales culture within the banking center by demonstrating strong ability to sell and cross-sell the Bank’s products and services to reach individual and team sales goals.
  • Communicate and partner effectively with branch staff and peers to promote a team environment and ensure goals are met.
  • Monitor performance against banking center goals by adjusting individual goals and initiating sales promotions as needed.
  • Execute consistent outbound calling activities inside the banking center using customer lists.
  • Cross-sell consistently and make appropriate business line referrals as defined by location goals.
  • Set priorities and follow through on the implementation of defined sales and service activities.
  • Promote company products and services in the community to assist in the continuing growth of the Bank.
  • Support day-to-day operations, including customer service, open and close procedures, vault duties, cash control, inventory management, and compliance with audit requirements.
  • Actively participate in regular sales and staff meetings.
  • Provide service to customers and prospective customers on various banking matters, including explaining products and resolving problems/issues professionally.
  • Build successful working relationships with internal business partners and seek constructive peer feedback when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making by following established guidelines and procedures while utilizing appropriate resources for assistance.
  • Maintain prescribed security controls to protect the banking center against criminal and fraudulent operations and unnecessary risks.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and customer business.
  • Contribute in a team environment by answering incoming telephone calls and performing additional duties to support the success of the Banking Center.
  • Acquire and maintain proficiency in the Bank’s policies and procedures, adhering to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Complete all assigned compliance training in a timely manner.
  • Register and maintain registry with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) to comply with the S.A.F.E. Act Requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Banking, cash handling, sales, and customer service experience preferred.
  • Supervisory or leadership skills desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook 365 and able to learn various banking software programs.
  • Strong consumer lending skills preferred, with a solid understanding of consumer lending products.
  • Ability to generate new financial relationships through outbound calling, internal business development, and building a loyal customer base.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact and build positive customer relationships, with the ability to clearly express concepts, ideas, and product information verbally and in writing.
  • Strong product knowledge for the level of selling and cross-selling performance expected.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Sound mathematical and analytical skills preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and flexibility.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be available to work all hours of operations.
