About the Role
The Personal Banker plays a dual role within the banking center by providing both Teller and New Account services. This position requires delivering high-quality customer service and a positive banking experience for all customers.
Responsibilities
New Accounts Duties
- Be well-versed in the Bank’s available products and services.
- Open and close accounts in the Business Process Manager software, including personal and business checking, savings, IRAs, and Certificates of Deposit.
- Discuss new account documentation with customers.
- Order checks and debit cards.
- Prepare documentation for new accounts under the Bank’s CIP/BSA policies.
- Follow up on requests from clients and loan officers in a timely manner.
- Deposit funds received from customers and provide receipts.
- Execute wire transfers.
- Provide information to current and prospective customers regarding interest rates, account charges, and other pertinent account details.
Teller Duties
- Operate and maintain a cash drawer, processing deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, and cashing checks.
- Maintain accurate details of each transaction.
- Prepare daily general ledger entries.
- Perform vault functions as necessary.
- Assist with daily balancing of the coin machine.
- Assist existing and potential customers with product and service inquiries.
- Balance teller drawer daily.
- Verify accuracy of posted transactions.
- Promote and cross-sell the Bank’s products and services.
- Resolve customer problems and maintain positive relations with all contacts.
- Comply with all department and company policies and procedures.

- Demonstrate excellent communication, analysis, observation, and decision-making skills.
- Work effectively in high-pressure situations and a stressful atmosphere while remaining composed.
- Comply with federal and state regulations as well as all established Bank policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least one year of banking experience working in new accounts, as a teller, or in lending.
- At least six months of cash handling experience.
- Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to type, use a computer efficiently, and use a 10-key calculator.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle large quantities of currency while maintaining accuracy.
- Good problem-solving skills, solid decision-making, and effective communication.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work activities.
- Mental concentration for handling frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for most of the workday and lift, carry, or move heavy boxes or bags of currency and coin, weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Flexible schedule, including working Monday through Saturday and at any of the bank’s locations as needed.
- Must be physically present in the Bank to perform job duties.
