About the role

A customer-focused Member Relationship Officer who ensures members’ needs are met by conducting thorough financial assessments and recommending appropriate products and services to fulfill immediate and future financial goals. The role involves generating leads, building and maintaining member relationships, and providing an exceptional member experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, recommend, and sell GTE Financial products and services to create fully engaged financial relationships.
  • Originate new members through various sources to ensure continued growth for the credit union.
  • Work within a team environment to develop retention strategies for new and existing members.
  • Generate referrals for credit union services, including:
    • Investment
    • Insurance
    • Business Services
    • Mortgages
  • Manage the sales floor by greeting members, directing them to appropriate areas, and ensuring their needs are met.
  • Gather information, analyze facts, and educate members on appropriate products/services to provide one-point resolution.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in reviewing and underwriting loan applications.
  • Adhere to audit and compliance procedures while maintaining high service standards.
  • Identify risk for credit union losses through observations of potentially fraudulent transactions.
  • Collaborate with Community Development Officers to strengthen relationships within the community and with community partners (Select Employee Groups).
  • Conduct member financial transactions, including originating, processing, and closing consumer loan products.
  • Handle mortgages by identifying the right product, initializing the process, gathering information for processors and underwriters, and ensuring a positive member experience.
  • Observe Credit Union guidelines, policies, and procedures to adhere to compliance regulations and security standards.
  • Complete regulatory compliance and training specific to sales and service responsibilities.
  • Exhibit a desire for continuous education to ensure personal growth and better serve members.
  • Participate in meetings, conference calls, and events as assigned.
  • Demonstrate functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and other Federal laws, including the U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
  • Qualify for NMLS registration according to the SAFE Act.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution; some college preferred.
  • 1-2 years of previous experience in the financial industry or related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proven success in prospecting, building a pipeline, and closing sales opportunities.
  • Effective negotiation, sales, and relationship-building skills.
  • Professional demeanor with co-workers to build a proactive team environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday – Friday (9:00 am to 5:00 pm), with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
