Responsibilities
- Interview and assist Members in completing consumer loan applications; coordinate loan closings and prepare loan closing documents
- Proactively seek cross-selling opportunities by evaluating Members’ needs, existing loans with other financial institutions found on credit reports, and explaining available credit union services
- Provide loan products to Credit Union Members in a timely and efficient manner
- Perform loan processing activities to include research, verification of employment, and payoffs
- Open new accounts and process necessary forms including but not limited to: Savings, Checking, Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), Trust, and Estate
- Create and package all Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) files and second mortgage loans
- Issuance of “Instant Issue” debit and credit cards
- Manage all closed accounts that may result in the termination of the Member’s membership
- Assist Members with their Notary or Medallion Signature Guarantee needs
- Manage cash with the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM), Vault, or Cash Dispensing Machines (CDM) when needed
- Assist with any fraud by answering questions, disputing transactions, or changing account
- Answer loan department inquiries such as rates, terms, and car values
- Act as a backup to the Contact Center for call overflow when needed
- Assist managers in operational procedures for opening and closing the branch
- Mentor new Member Service Representatives
- Gather documents, fund and close a consumer loan not secured by real estate
- Aid in MSR relief and process mail payments when needed
- Act as a backup in the absence of the Assistant Branch Manager
- Understand and follow BMI FCU policies and procedures complying with federal regulations including, but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act; Anti Money Laundering regulations; USA Patriot Act; Office of Foreign Asset Control; Regulation CC; and Right to Financial Privacy Act
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
- High school degree, GED, or equivalent required
- A minimum of 1-3 years of proven related experience; a viable combination of experience and education will be considered
- Ability to work a varied work schedule
- Notary Commission and Certification with STAMP (Securities Transfer Agent Medallion Program) required
- Previous cash handling and customer service experience required
- Mortgage Loan Originator license preferred
- Basic math skills
- Positive, can-do attitude
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to balance multiple tasks and changing priorities with high attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with competencies in Excel, general computer programs, and general office equipment
- Proficient in prioritizing work and completing multiple tasks accurately
- Possess a professional demeanor
- Ability to receive and maintain confidential information
