Personal Banker
Job Summary
Be a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to the people and businesses in our KeyBank communities. Personal Bankers engage clients in deeper conversations to uncover needs and provide guidance and solutions to assist in client's financial wellness both in person and through proactive calling efforts. As part of the branch team, the Personal Banker will work toward attracting new clients to Key and work with existing clients to develop and expand relationships based on their unique financial goals, leading to client confidence in their finances.
Essential Functions
- Embody a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate and realizing the impact we can have on their day, personally, professionally, and financially.
- Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during in-person and over the phone client conversations and provide effective and customized financial wellness recommendations to clients.
- Consistently attains individual activity, behavior, and outcome goals and expectations.
- Opening personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, various deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.).
- Developing strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners – focusing on client acquisition and deepening the relationship of current clients; effectively managing internal and external centers of influence.
- Ensuring compliance with operational, risk, security and audit procedures and policies including appropriate documentation of client interactions.
- Supporting branch operations including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed.
- Participating in and occasionally facilitating in-person morning huddles and end of day debriefs.
- Participating in Saturday work as directed by management.
- Complying with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.
Education and Work Experience
- A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent business experience (required) or a Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
- Minimum of 1 year experience in developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources. Experience with sales is more important than financial services experience.
Skills
- Knowledgeable about the client’s accounts and business with the bank and uses sound judgment with clients and transactions.
- Demonstrated ability to attain sales and referral goals through preset appointments and quality conversations leading to recommendations that support clients’ financial wellness goals, leveraging system generated lead lists, walk-ins, and professional contacts.
- Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Building and nurturing relationships with clients including identifying potential clients, engaging with them to understand their needs, and developing strategies to convert them into long-term clients. It also includes deepening relationships with existing clients by offering additional products and services that meet their evolving needs.
- Being attentive to client needs, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring a positive banking experience.
- Excellent client service helps build trust and encourages clients to continue banking with KeyBank.
- Evaluating financial information to understand clients' financial health, identifying investment opportunities, and recommending strategies.
- Understanding and managing risks associated with banking operations and client transactions.
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to understand clients' needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services.
- Accurate and efficient handling of cash transactions.
Physical Demands
Prolonged Standing (5-8 hours per day), frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects, ability to communicate face to face and on the phone with clients, occasional bending and lifting from floor height, frequent forward reach, frequent lifting of 1 – 10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
Driving Requirements
Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license.
Compensation and Benefits
This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $20.67 - $31.25 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
