Position Summary
The Personal Banker will assist customers in a dual role function, handling teller transactions, sales, and service. They will provide solutions based on customer needs and refer customers to other lines of business to meet their financial needs. This role works with the branch team to achieve strategic goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Offer and sell bank products and services to both consumer and small business customers, including Checking and Savings Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).
- Operate a teller window to meet the needs of the branch clientele.
- Provide exceptional customer service, listen for sales opportunities, explain and promote bank products and/or services, and participate in referral opportunities.
- Use sales skills such as effective listening, identifying needs, expanding and deepening customer relationships, responding to verbal and non-verbal clues, presenting solutions through product benefits, establishing a clear difference, overcoming objections, and asking for the business.
- Follow up with prospects and current customers to promote new products and services and/or thank customers for existing banking relationships.
- Engage with valued customer relationships to promote growth and retention.
- Maintain confidentiality in handling customer and bank information.
- Follow security policies and procedures to prevent bank and customer losses.
- Resolve customer complaints and escalate appropriately.
- Maintain a detailed knowledge of retail products and services.
- Collaborate with the branch team to achieve customer sales and service objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree preferred
- Two or more years of related experience in Financial Services industry
- Basic knowledge of retail product philosophy, policy, procedures, documentation and systems
- Thorough knowledge of all retail products and services
- Proven customer service and interpersonal skills
- Effective selling and referral skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work a schedule that includes Saturdays
