Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Provide customer service as currently defined by the employer within the scope of the position and within company policy.
• Responsible for appropriately handling emergencies, customer complaints, employee or customer accidents and supervising all store personnel.
• Maintain high level of familiarity with company policies and procedures.
• Supervise the sales floor to monitor service and replenishment of products.
• Replace stock in displays surrounding the checkout area.
• Absorb stock in displays surrounding the checkout area.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment within the store.
• Assist in performing basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
• Operate electronically scanning cash register to total customers’ final bill.
• Receive payment for customer purchase and count back correct change.
• Bag groceries in paper, canvas, or plastic bags.
• Lift bags into grocery cart.
• Offer customer assistance with carry out, and perform that task if a Courtesy Clerk is not available.
• May be responsible for completing close of day function in the office.
• May be responsible for counting out of stock product.
• May count tills when other cashier-checkers leave.

Job Related Qualifications

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of all positions within the store.
• Ability to work independently.

• Prior experience as a clerk or manager.

Physical Demands

• Constant (over 70% of the time): lifting 1-10 lbs., frequently lifting 11-20 lbs., occasionally lifting 21-35 lbs., carrying 1-10 lbs., occasionally carrying 11-50 lbs., pushing/pulling 1-10 lbs., occasionally pushing/pulling 11-20 lbs., reaching knee to shoulder, occasionally reaching overhead and at or above shoulder level, standing constantly, sitting allowed on breaks, frequent walking while on job, frequent neck rotation and bending of head, occasional bending/stooping, twisting, crouching, and squatting, rarely kneeling, frequent handling/grasping and repetitive motion while checking, facing, and replacing stock, frequent fine finger manipulation, using peripheral vision and depth perception to move around store and push carts in aisles, near vision used to operate scanner, make change, and troubleshoot equipment, hearing to converse with customers, provide service, and receive questions from employees and customers, answering pages and telephone, speaking to respond to customers and employees and use intercom/telephone.

  Pay Range

  The pay range is $17.38 to $20.71 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
