About the role

The Permit Coordinator is an intermediate-level permitting position within TDU's turnkey engineering department. This role independently manages the full permit lifecycle for telecommunications projects including pole attachment, city, county, DOT, ROW, and environmental permits. The Permit Coordinator works with minimal supervision, provides guidance to Permit Coordinator team members, consistently meets quality control targets, and coordinates directly with permitting authorities to expedite approvals and resolve issues. This is a remote opportunity supporting our Telecon Design USA team.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage permit applications across multiple authority types — pole attachment, ROW, city, county, DOT, and environmental — across multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Serve as a direct point of contact with permitting authorities, proactively managing application status, responding to correction requests, and expediting approvals.
  • Provide guidance and answer questions for Permit Coordinator team members to support their professional development.
  • Review permit packages for completeness and compliance before submission, ensuring first-pass approval rates are maximized.
  • Coordinate with design and construction teams to ensure permit scope aligns with design deliverables and field requirements.
  • Track and manage permit status across all active projects using company tracking tools (QB, P2), flagging risks to the Project Manager.
  • Identify and escalate jurisdictional issues, moratoriums, or scope changes that may affect permit timelines.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of permit templates, checklists, and process documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing input on permitting strategies, best practices, and workload planning.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 12 months of experience in a Permit Coordinator role or equivalent telecommunications permitting experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in preparing and submitting permit applications for multiple authority types (pole attachment, ROW, city/county, DOT).
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications permitting regulations, processes, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple permits across multiple projects, and meet submission deadlines.
  • Proficiency in project tracking tools and management software (QB, P2, or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for direct interaction with permitting authorities.
  • High attention to detail with a track record of strong first-pass permit approval rates.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications project documentation sufficient to review permit scope for accuracy.

Benefits

  • Group benefits and 401K program
  • Employee assistance program – confidential help for stress, sleep problems, budget concerns
  • Employee perks including discounts from suppliers on various products and services such as insurance, wireless bundles, movie tickets, travel, software, books, and more
