About the role
The Head Tailor will lead the alterations workshop, deliver flawless garment execution, and provide white-glove service to high-net-worth clients. The position requires a strong commitment to craftsmanship and a deep understanding of luxury garment construction.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of the boutique's tailoring workshop
- Manage workflow and set priorities
- Ensure all deadlines are met
- Measure clients for size using a tape measure
- Study garments on clients and guide them through expert styling and fit recommendations
- Perform complex alterations and repairs on luxury ready-to-wear collections using both hand-sewing techniques and commercial sewing equipment
- Liaise closely with the sales and management teams to communicate fitting information, ensure accurate timelines, and deliver an exceptional VIP client journey
- Maintain meticulous records of all alteration files
- Keep the workshop area immaculate
- Monitor tailoring equipment and supplies, coordinating reorders as needed
- Uphold Dolce & Gabbana’s prestige standards through professional posture, refined client approach, and immaculate attention to detail
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional tailoring experience, with significant experience in the luxury or high-end retail sector
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred
- Exceptional command of garment construction, pattern adjustments, and fine-fabric handling (silk, leather, velvet, heavy wools, and structured evening wear)
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- High organizational capability
- The ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-end retail environment
- Able to stand and sit for extended periods, perform fine manual dexterity tasks, and lift up to 20 lbs
- Organizational skills and understanding of priorities and business needs
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Technology, or related field is preferred
- Professional certifications in tailoring and/or fashion design are advantageous

Pay
The hourly rate for this role ranges from $45.00 - $48.00 and is eligible for variable commission.
