About the role
Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1). The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Serve the public and work to make Ohio roads safer.
- Attend training to obtain CDL licensure (if not already a licensed CDL holder).
- Perform highway maintenance activities including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing.
- Perform snow and ice operations.
Requirements
- Highway Maintenance Worker 1: Formal education in arithmetic (addition & subtraction) and reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
- Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic (addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages & fractions) and ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 months training or 3 months experience operating basic equipment; Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.

Pay
Highway Maintenance Worker 1: $21.48 per hour; Highway Technician 1: $22.29 per hour.
