About the Role

The Perioperative Nursing Assistant provides diverse support to surgical services, ensuring efficient operations across multiple areas.

Responsibilities

• Support pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative activities, collaborating with surgical teams and supporting multiple specialties.
• Apply aseptic techniques, operate and troubleshoot various surgical equipment, and ensure sterile environment compliance.
• Assist surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and technologists, providing technical support and preparing case-specific equipment.
• Perform documentation accurately and timely, and be available for on-call hours outside scheduled shifts.
• Prioritize and coordinate support functions based on daily surgical schedules, ensuring patient safety and procedural readiness.
• Demonstrate knowledge of surgical systems, equipment, and safety protocols, including laser use and sterilization techniques.
• Foster effective communication, teamwork, and patient-family sensitivity, contributing to a safe and satisfactory care environment.
• Participate in department meetings, training, and educational activities to support professional growth.

Requirements

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical instruments, equipment, and sterilization methods.
• Ability to operate a wide range of surgical and electronic systems, troubleshoot equipment, and work independently.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and effective communication abilities.
• Flexibility to work in multiple surgical areas and support various specialties with a patient-centered approach.
