Responsibilities
- Ordering items for Perioperative Services, including stock items, implants, consigned goods, and special order items.
- Working with vendors and corporate analysts to create items in the purchasing system and obtain pricing.
- Recommending items to add/contract that are not currently in the purchasing system or on contract.
- Evaluating purchase order discrepancy notifications and taking corrective actions, including informing the MMIS Team of necessary changes in the purchasing system.
- Processing departmental requisitions and reordering implants based on implant sheets collected from Perioperative Services.
- Ensuring all orders are processed using the purchasing system within the required time frame and completing accruals by month end.
- Obtaining accurate pricing from vendors for new items and billing only those items.
- Working closely with Contract Analysts to ensure the purchasing system is updated accurately when adding new items.
- Assisting with developing policies and procedures to ensure positive work flow.
- Participating in projects assigned by the Materials Manager/Perioperative Services Business Manager.
- Controlling inventory levels in the operating rooms, monitoring supplies, adjusting inventory according to par levels, checking for expiration dates, rotating stock, and maintaining records.
- Completing and documenting all necessary tissue tracking documentation and ensuring tissue is noted in the Tissue Tracking system.
- Maintaining all implant logs and records, communicating accruals to the Perioperative Services Business Manager prior to month end.
- Researching and documenting all recalls pertaining to assigned departments, completing all documents, and maintaining records.
- Sending out and receiving in all repairs, maintaining documents for accuracy.
- Selecting appropriate vendors and accomplishing the purchase of supplies, equipment, and services.
- Aiding departments with sourcing of new items and substitute items, verifying their appropriateness and non-duplication of items.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or GED equivalent programs.
- Previous purchasing experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
