Job Summary
As our Perioperative Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting efficient surgical operations by preparing rooms, assisting with patient handling, and ensuring the availability and functionality of equipment and supplies.
Responsibilities
- Prepares sterile supplies and assists the team with patient positioning and transport
- Operates specialized equipment like Stealth and CUSA, manages specimens, and maintains a clean and orderly environment
- Manages equipment setup and maintenance, ensures adherence to safety and infection control standards, collaborates effectively with the surgical team, and contributes to overall departmental performance improvement
- Reviews the OR schedule daily, tracks and monitors the necessary pick-up and delivery of patients to and from the operating rooms as needed to ensure timely surgical starts
- Opens and assists the team with supplies, instrument sets, suture selection and meeting benchmark turnovers
- Aids in patient positioning, surgical preps, clipping, and retrieves x-rays, equipment set up and tracking and removing instruments to and from the operating room suites
- Rounds within their assigned surgical rooms to ensure that all turnovers are met
- Supports the necessary patient movement and flow
- Assists Registered Nurses, Surgical Scrubs, and the Surgeons while preventing the disruption of the surgical case by retrieving supplies, relaying messages, and managing the ancillary support of the surgical team
- Antsips the needs of the surgical team members and provides the necessary support and knowledge of surgical supplies, instruments, and sutures
Requirements
- Required High School Graduate, upon hire or High School GED, upon hire
- One (1) year of related health care experience, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days
