Part-time (32 hours/week) variable schedule: 8 AM–4:30 PM, 7 days total every 2 weeks (4 days one week, 3 days the next).
About the role
Independently performs low- to high-risk diagnostic and interventional sonographic exams and assists in direct patient care within a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) or perinatal setting, following established departmental guidelines and protocols. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Perinatal Sonographer produces high-quality obstetric ultrasound images, recognizes normal and abnormal pathology, and provides summary findings to Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physicians.
Responsibilities
- Produce diagnostic ultrasound images in conformance with department techniques and procedures by selecting and operating equipment accurately.
- Assist Perinatologists in interpreting the technical aspects of completed examinations.
- Explain procedures to patients, families, and others to ensure understanding.
- Coordinate patient and procedure schedules for efficient patient flow.
- Maintain knowledge of all ultrasound equipment in the department.
- Assist in the educational training of Student Ultrasound Technologists.
- Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service.
- Provide care to obstetrical patients in the Perinatal Center and Maternity Center Monday–Friday, and on-call to the Maternity Center after hours and on weekends.
- Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination while assisting physicians and Perinatologists with procedures.
- Assist in transferring patients to and from examination tables and provide proper immobilization devices for positioning or transporting.
- Evaluate requisitions for accurate completion of ultrasound examinations, complete record-keeping paperwork, and aid in storing completed exams.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Ultrasound Technology School or ARDMS registered with ultrasound experience.
- One year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, preferably in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM).
- ARDMS Registered in OB/GYN.
- CPR certified.
- Fetal Echo Certification within 2 years of hire.
