What You'll Do
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to obstetrical and neonatal patients as part of a collaborative care team.
- Assist in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using the nursing process and evidence-based practice.
- Monitor patient conditions and promptly communicate changes to the Registered Nurse and healthcare team.
- Support mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
- Educate patients and families on postpartum and newborn care while promoting a positive patient experience.
- Accurately document patient care and maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and recognize actual or potential health concerns requiring intervention.
- Maintain clinical competency through ongoing education and professional development.
- Promote a culture of safety by reporting clinical or ethical concerns and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Education – Graduate from an approved nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
- Experience – One year experience in relevant specialty preferred. Previous women's health, mother/baby, nursery, or acute care experience preferred. Previous Operating Room Tech experience or education preferred or must complete Perinatal Tech training course including didactic and clinical training components within 6 months in the job.
- Licensure/Certification – Current license to practice in the State of Maryland. Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy.
