About the role
Our team is looking for a Perinatal Instructor to join us in teaching our prepared childbirth class twice a month. We seek someone with a passion for education and experience in labor and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Adheres to hospital infection control policies for Women's and Children's Services including hand-washing, nails, jewelry, and dress code.
- Demonstrates proper response to hospital codes and alerts according to policies.
- Displays proper identification at all times and observes infant security measures according to established guidelines.
- Utilizes a variety of teaching techniques in educational presentations.
- Demonstrates knowledge, enthusiasm, organization, and responsiveness during class instruction.
- Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with clients, family members, physicians, and co-workers.
- Communicates with healthcare team members to ensure consistency and quality of information through attendance at instructor meetings and observation.
- Maintains updated knowledge of class content and certification as appropriate.
- Teaches required minimum number of classes to meet the needs of clients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Bachelor's degree preferred.
- One year of experience in women's health education in a hospital or clinic setting required.
- Experience in health education and obstetrics preferred.
- Certification in Birth Education (C BIRTH ED) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate clinical information, technical procedures, and healthcare issues.
- Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, members of the business community, and the general public.
- Ability to effectively present information to public groups and educate both adult and pediatric learners.
- Basic mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Strong reasoning and critical thinking skills.
Job Details
This is a per diem, non-exempt, onsite position located in Chapel Hill, NC, with a variable work schedule. Standard hours per week: 6.00.
Pay
$24.98 - $35.91 per hour (hiring range). Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.
