Perimeter Implementation Engineer

Support the deployment, lifecycle management, and technical enhancements of network security systems, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and secure environments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage release and deployment projects for network perimeter security systems, ensuring timely and successful implementation with minimal impact on the production network.
  • Perform technical assessments and develop detailed implementation plans for complex security requests, including validation procedures and back-out strategies.
  • Build, operate, and maintain firewall platforms such as Fortinet, Checkpoint, and TippingPoint IDS/IPS, along with their respective management systems.
  • Conduct quality assurance before deployment to ensure adherence to standards and risk mitigation.
  • Communicate technical solutions and project status effectively across all organizational levels, including senior management and technical teams.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to support new technology adoption, system enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, update asset tracking, and ensure compliance with change management practices.
  • Support the automation of security processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work nights and weekends as necessary to support scheduled implementations and maintain operational excellence.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining high-level and low-level design diagrams and documentation of perimeter security systems.

Requirements

  • Eight or more years of IT experience with a focus on firewall and perimeter security solutions.
  • Proven experience in building, configuring, and maintaining firewall platforms such as Fortinet and Check Point.
  • Practical knowledge of IDS/IPS products like TippingPoint and Fortinet.
  • Strong understanding of network routing, switching, and related protocols.
  • Familiarity with DMZ network architecture, security policies, and associated infrastructure.
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python, Perl, or shell scripting; Unix/Linux administrator level proficiency.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of engaging with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed for deployment support.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Pay

$45.00 – $47.00 hourly

Schedule

Fully remote role; can be performed from an approved location.
