Perfusionist

Highlights

Day Shift Summary: Under the direction of the Surgeon, the Perfusionist shall be responsible for the safe operation of the heart-lung machine. The Perfusionist is also responsible for the safe operation of extracorporeal circulation and autotransfusion equipment during any medical situation where it is necessary to support or temporarily replace the patient's circulatory or respiratory function. In addition, the Perfusionist is responsible for the management and inventory of perfusion cannula and supplies necessary for extracorporeal circulation. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

About the Role

Education: Graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular Perfusion Technology program required.

Responsibilities

• Safe operation of the heart-lung machine
• Safe operation of extracorporeal circulation and autotransfusion equipment
• Management and inventory of perfusion cannula and supplies
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• Active Certified Clinical Perfusionist certification required
• BLS required
• Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc) may be required

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software
• Strong team leadership skills
• Strong organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills
• Must be able to meet strict deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Excellent organizational skills
• Must be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to remain calm in difficult situations
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Proven track record of successful performance
• Able to understand complex multifactor situations and bring appropriate solutions
