About the role
The Performance Visualization Specialist is a key member of the Performance Management Analytics System (PMAS) team. The team aims to integrate new and existing HHSC program data to enhance and inform decision-making. The role involves transforming data into actionable information to strengthen programs supporting Texans.
Responsibilities
- Data Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of data, apply statistical techniques, develop proof of concept mockups, and convert raw data into database table structures from various sources.
- Data Quality/Integrity: Assess data quality, coordinate with internal groups to improve data quality, and consult on improving data collection systems and analytics methods.
- Visualization: Determine effective methods for addressing data requests, constructing performance measures, and implementing visualizations for monitoring service trends.
- Customer Focus and Communication: Engage with stakeholders to build relationships, gather necessary information from customers, explain tool development, and ensure accuracy in final products.
Requirements
- Four-year college degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field required.
- Three years or more experience with data acquisition, management, analysis, and visualization of health and human services-related data or large datasets preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of data visualization development, including data model creation, advanced calculations, and interactive visualizations.
- Knowledge of relational databases and database design.
- Knowledge of custom SQL Table/View creation with multi-level join conditions.
- Knowledge in writing queries to extract, join, and load data using SQL/PSQL.
- Knowledge of Cloud usage for visualization development.
- Knowledge of performance management and continuous quality improvement processes.
- Knowledge of Snowflake query development and execution.
- Knowledge of Tableau or other visualization software.
- Skills in creating graphical user interfaces, mockups, prototypes, and design documents.
- Skills in critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Skills in using SAS, SPSS, Python, or other statistical software.
- Skills in using EXCEL or other spreadsheet software.
- Skills in graphical, tabular, and geographical presentation of data.
- Ability to translate complex data into user-friendly information.
- Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to build, establish, and maintain effective working relationships and coalitions.
- Ability to plan, organize, and conduct data analytic projects and prepare reports.
- Ability to develop and interpret statistical data charts, maps, and tables.

$5,425.33 - $8,886.16 per month
