About the Role

Provides global customer and business support across the system in operational analysis, performance improvement, work process design/redesign, clinical care optimization, patient safety, and other organizational improvement activities. Maintains a portfolio of system-level improvement projects as well as related local operational improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Dedicated to providing system support for performance improvement, reducing variation and waste in organizational processes.
  • Involved in quality methodology, tools, and curriculum used in process improvement projects throughout the system.
  • Analyzes existing workflows (people, activities, materials) and performs observations to determine capacities, workloads, and staffing needs.
  • Leads and coaches micro and meso system-level projects and teams, guiding improvement teams through problem-solving using a standard improvement framework.
  • Ensures establishment of metrics, analyzes current state, and recommends workflow enhancements.
  • Functions as an organizational change consultant, providing strategies to improve the effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Mentors and supports new Performance Improvement Specialists.
  • Conducts data analysis, identifies areas for improvement, and monitors process effectiveness.
  • Provides facilitation, data, and root cause analysis to improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, and process efficiencies.
  • Uses quality improvement tools, systems thinking, statistical process control, and project management.
  • Prepares reports synthesizing analytical results using visualization tools (e.g., histograms, run charts, statistical control charts).
  • Maintains knowledge of organizational change methodology and provides direction on change.
  • Partners and collaborates on projects with other members of the Quality staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience leading or serving as a primary resource for Quality/Process Improvement projects.
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in quality improvement principles and projects.
  • Leadership experience and interpersonal skills managing and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of improvement methodologies such as Model for Improvement, PDSA, and FMEA.
  • Ability to improve work processes using statistical/analytical metrics.
  • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and meeting management skills.
  • Independent judgment, analytic ability to problem-solve, formulate reports, and interpret data.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a change agent and deliver projects on time with approved outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel (pivot tables, macros), and PowerPoint.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or Advanced IHI Model for Improvement certification within one year of hire/promotion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous healthcare and/or clinical experience.
  • Training in large-scale change, coaching, and internal consulting.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Schedule

This is a hybrid position and requires onsite work regularly.
