Perezida wa FERWAFA yatawe muri yombi
Dr. Shema Ngoga Fabrice, former President of the Rwandan Football Federation (FERWAFA) and CEO of Africa Medical Supplier Plc Rwanda, was arrested on Tuesday, 11 June 2026, on charges of issuing fraudulent checks. The spokesperson for Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Dr. Murangira B. Thierry, confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing into additional related offenses. Ngoga is currently detained at RIB’s Kicukiro station.
RIB has not disclosed whether the charges are connected to his roles at FERWAFA or Africa Medical Supplier Plc Rwanda.
About the individual
Dr. Shema Ngoga Fabrice gained prominence in Rwandan football as President of A.S. Kigali, where he contributed significantly to the club’s financial growth and success. Under his leadership, A.S. Kigali won the Peace Cup twice (2019 and 2022) and the FERWAFA Super Cup in 2022.
On 30 May 2026, Ngoga was elected President of FERWAFA for a four-year term, succeeding Alphonse Munyentwari. During his brief tenure, he introduced several changes in Rwandan football, including increased prize money and a stronger focus on women’s football and youth development. Despite serving as FERWAFA President, he did not receive a salary. His previous compensation of $200,000 over four years was redirected to support youth programs.
