Per Diem RN - First Assist

About the Role

A Registered Nurse - First Assist provides specialized intraoperative support within the surgical team, assisting surgeons during procedures to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. This per diem position involves functions such as helping with room setup, maintaining hemostasis, and performing post-operative local anesthetic injections, working independently with the surgeon within legal scope and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform first assisting roles alongside surgeons
• Assist with surgical room setup and cleanup
• Maintain hemostasis using appropriate techniques and instruments
• Administer local anesthetics post-operation
• Support intraoperative technical functions to facilitate safe procedures

Requirements

• Current Nevada nursing license
• OR certification (CNOR) from AORN
• CRNFA or RNAS-C certification (must be maintained)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS (if applicable) certifications
• Knowledge of surgical assisting practices and adherence to legal standards
