Per Diem Residential Assistant - St. Bridget's

About the role

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is seeking a Per Diem Residential Assistant for its St. Bridget’s Residence Shelter in Newark, NJ. St. Bridget’s offers a shelter, transitional living facility, permanent housing program, and a drip-in center for homeless men and women living with HIV/AIDS.

Responsibilities

- Carry out designated services in the shelter. - Monitor the activity of residents and visitors to ensure program policies and safety parameters are maintained. - Provide residents with supplies as needed. - Answer telephone calls in a professional manner and assist callers. - Supervise and secure all building areas. - Quickly and appropriately respond to crisis situations in a manner that safeguards all participants. - Accurately complete all required program documentation, including program logs, statistics tracking sheets, incident reports, and work orders.

Requirements

- High school diploma or GED and 1-2 years of related experience preferred OR - 3 years of experience working with the homeless population in lieu of a HS diploma or GED.

Qualifications

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Strong communication skills. - Experience with crisis intervention. - Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and homelessness.

Skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office. - Familiarity with basic computer software.
