Assess, plan, and provide intraoperative nursing care based on the physiological and emotional needs of patients and families, in accordance with perioperative standards.
Function as a liaison among patients, families, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary care team.
Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures and ensure readiness of equipment, supplies, and instrumentation.
Perform circulating and scrub responsibilities while maintaining compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record.
Provide patient- and family-centered care, anticipating individualized education and support needs.
Manage resources efficiently to support safe patient care and smooth workflow within the surgical suite.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, communicate safety concerns, and use information technology to support clinical decision-making and coordination of care.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues to provide high-quality, culturally sensitive, and developmentally appropriate care.
Work 8- and 10-hour shifts, with rotation, short call requirements as needed.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room experience, Pediatric experience required, Orthopedic experience preferred, EPIC experience preferred.
Licensure/Certifications: Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license required, PALS preferred.
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
