Responsibilities
- Coverage support as needed during business hours.
- Coordinate and oversee patient scheduling activities.
- Answer incoming calls promptly and route them appropriately.
- Maintain patient charts and ensure accurate documentation.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Obtain referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications from insurance carriers.
- Serve as a liaison between physicians, dialysis centers, hospitals, and referral facilities.
- Ensure test results and clinical documentation are sent to referring providers as appropriate.
- Cook up dialysis treatments and related patient services.
- Arrange transportation for patients when needed.
- Perform administrative duties including filing, faxing, scanning, and document management.
- Maintain office supply inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Cook up patient flow and communication throughout the care process.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in community outreach and educational activities as requested.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare office, medical practice, ambulatory surgery center, or medical billing environment required.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology.
- Experience verifying insurance coverage with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payors.
- Experience obtaining insurance referrals, prior authorizations, and pre-certifications.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with patients, providers, and referral sources.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
