About the role

Bedford Public Schools seeks energetic, team-oriented individuals for per diem school nurse positions within the Bedford School System. This role is part of a progressive student health team and reports to the School Nurse Leader.

Responsibilities

• Float among the four public schools as a second nurse or sole nurse in the absence of the primary school nurse
• Assist with completion of medical records for school sports physicals
• Collect medical information and prepare records for incoming students
• Conduct mandated screenings: postural, hearing, vision, and BMI
• Establish and maintain a comprehensive School Health program
• Assess the health needs of children and collect/evaluate student health data to form nursing diagnoses and care plans
• Collaborate with school health partners to ensure quality healthcare for children
• Work in a busy office with minimal medical supervision
• Work some hours during the summer to acquire student medical information and prepare records for incoming students
• Participate in the school health and wellness committee and safety or emergency preparedness planning committees
• Assist with the development of school health policies

Requirements

• Valid license as a Registered Nurse with the Massachusetts Board of Registration
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Current and valid certification in CPR and First Aid
• Current and valid Motor Vehicle Driver’s License
• Experience with personal computers and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Aspen, and SNAP

• Highly organized and self-motivated team player
