Responsibilities
- Provide in-home education and training to patients and caregivers on proper injection techniques.
- Demonstrate/training visits only. You will not administer any medications.
- Assess patients’ and caregivers’ understanding of the injection process and tailor training to their individual needs.
- Review medication instructions, side effects and storage requirements to ensure patient safety and compliance.
- Demonstrate infection control practices, including hand hygiene and proper handling of injection equipment.
- Create a supportive and encouraging environment to reduce patient anxiety about self-injection.
- Document training sessions accurately in compliance with company and drug manufacturer regulations.
- Submit paperwork back to Mercalis within 24 hours of completion of the visit.
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals as needed to support continuity of care.
- Be able to administer first aid/CPR or coordinate emergency care (911) as needed if a medical emergency arises during a visit.
- Identify and report any adverse events, medical inquiries, or product complaints per Mercalis and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain accurate mileage documentation for billing purposes.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state(s) of practice. Must be in good standing.
- Active driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to patient’s homes.
- Active professional liability insurance in the amount of $1 million or greater.
- Current CPR or BLS certification.
- Negative PPD (tuberculosis) test within the past two years.
- Not listed in the Office of Inspector General Excluded/Debarred list.
- Will need to successfully pass a third party administered background check upon hire.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish trust with the patients and their families.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Prior home health, patient education or injection training experience.
- Multilingual skills to better serve diverse patient populations.
