Per Diem EEG Technologist

About the Role

SpecialtyCare is the industry leader in intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) services in the US, monitoring over 60,000 cases annually and providing services to over 450 hospitals nationwide. As a Neurodiagnostic Technologist, you will conduct electroneurodiagnostic procedures, including assessments, testing, data collection, technical interpretation, and completion of reports and billing forms. This role operates under clinical supervision and involves performing routine and complex procedures to diagnose clinical disorders of the nervous system.

Responsibilities

• Perform electroneurodiagnostic studies in at least one of the following modalities: Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Long-Term Monitoring (CLTM), or Transcranial Doppler (TCD).
• Provide training and education support to other NeuroCare technologists and/or surgical neurophysiologists as needed.
• Gather and document accurate medical information and communicate with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Patient Setup:
  • Explain test procedures to patients and family members using age-appropriate guidelines.
  • Accurately document pertinent patient history from the patient or chart.
  • Perform END studies such as EEG, Evoked Potentials, or TCD.
  • Set up patients, paperwork, rooms, and equipment for studies.
  • Measure and apply recording electrodes according to the International 10-20 Electrode Placement System.
• END Equipment:
  • Calibrate, evaluate, and adjust equipment to optimize recording and stimulation parameters.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, such as adjusting sensitivity, to ensure accurate data recording.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and functionality, reporting malfunctions as needed.
  • Perform daily maintenance on equipment.
• END Recording:
  • Run studies with appropriate documentation, including observations of the patient and troubleshooting artifacts.
  • Distinguish normal from abnormal results and utilize resources to complete studies.
  • Respond to evolving patient care needs and work independently during 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts in the Laboratory or ICU.
  • Participate in the on-call schedule.
• Documentation:
  • Prepare accurate and timely records, files, and work/technical sheets, emphasizing clinical observations to assist neurologists or designated MDs with final interpretations.
• Additional Duties:
  • Clean patient areas, rooms, and equipment after each study.
  • Use downtime for training, equipment cleaning, and educational reading.
  • Assist new Neurodiagnostic Technologists following their training.
  • Attend scientific courses and seminars for continuing education.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator, Manager, or Corporate staff.

Requirements

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited END training program or on-the-job training with a minimum of one to two years of experience.
• One to two years of experience preferred.
