This onsite role is an Educational Consultant representing Savvas Learning Company, driving lasting change in districts and schools through core content, intervention, supplemental professional development, and job-embedded services. The position provides individual and group support to district personnel and school faculty, helping integrate effective strategies into classroom practice. Responsibilities include delivering professional development and technical assistance to contracted schools, requiring deep knowledge of academia, standards-based reform, and high-quality job-embedded professional development.
Responsibilities
- Effectively implement classroom components and resources in the program:
- Apply the philosophy, pedagogy, and basic organization of the program.
- Implement each segment of the daily instructional block.
- Differentiate instruction based on student need.
- Manage a Savvas curriculum classroom, technology integration, and devices.
- Utilize data and reporting tools to impact instruction and decision-making.
- Model coaching conversations that support administrators in providing effective teacher feedback.
- Job-Embedded Coaching and Modeling:
- Coach teachers to apply the philosophy, pedagogy, and basic organization of the program.
- Differentiate instruction based on teacher and student needs.
- Observation and Support:
- Observe classroom practices post-professional development to assess implementation progress of the Savvas program.
- Provide teachers with critical feedback to guide implementation of key instructional features.
- Offer feedback on observable practices learned from Model Lesson/Lesson Study opportunities.
- Data-Based Decision Making:
- Use two dashboards within the product (Performance and Assignment).
- Differentiate instruction based on student need.
- Administrator Support:
- Utilize Savvas program tools to determine implementation needs.
- Observe strategies and practices in the instructional block and provide teachers with feedback on implementation.
- Understand and identify the philosophy, pedagogy, and basic organization of the program.
- Administrator Coaching:
- Provide classroom/instructional coaching.
- Facilitate training to support implementation.
- Provide onsite technical support.
- Maintain regular and ongoing communication with school and district leaders.
Requirements
- B.A. or B.S. degree required; M.A. preferred.
- 5+ years of successful teaching experience in a K-8 school setting, specifically in ELA.
- Experience offering workshops and coaching to teachers.
- Experience with classroom-based technology integration.
- Experience with differentiated instruction.
- Strong collaboration and team-building skills.
- Knowledge of standards-based reform, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Ability to plan strategically with and coach school leaders and classroom teachers.
- Ability to provide instructional support relating to effective teaching strategies using instructional technology.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent presentation skills for large and small groups.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be local to the Northeast region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Scaffolding instruction for English Language Learners.
- Certification in bilingual education.
- Scaffolding instruction for students with disabilities.
- Strategies for effective classroom use of instructional technology.
- Experience in virtual teaching and learning.
- Programs and services to support community outreach.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Savvas products and experience in effective coaching and training.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to sit or stand at a personal computer for extended periods while typing and reading, as well as during presentations.
- Ability to handle a high volume of work in short timeframes, manage multiple priorities, and operate in a demanding work environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Must be able to travel up to 70%, including airline and automobile travel, with a reliable method of transportation.
Pay
- Full-Day Professional Development: $550.00 per 6-hour session
- Half-Day Professional Development: $275.00 per 3-hour session
- 1-Hour Session (Webinar): $120.00 per session
- Travel: $160/daily (Onsite only)
- Administrative: $20/hour
- Internal Training: $30/hour
