About the role

The Educational Consultant (ELA or Reading) serves as a key member of the Curriculum Associates team, providing professional learning services to schools and districts. This role focuses on facilitating high-quality professional development, training, support, data analysis, and communication with school teachers and leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate high-quality professional development, training, and support for teachers and school leaders.
  • Coordinate on-site product training and professional learning courses for teachers and school administrators.
  • Deliver professional learning courses to teachers, coaches, and leaders on how to effectively implement Ready and i-Ready to impact classroom learning.
  • Provide tailored on-site support to teachers, coaches, and leaders, including lesson planning and pacing support, data analysis, and identifying implementation successes and challenges.
  • Engage in internal professional improvement and development cycles, including being observed, receiving feedback, and being coached.
  • Track and submit detailed training notes, and complete all assignments in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with at least 2+ years of experience in teaching ELA or Reading, coaching teachers of ELA or Reading, and providing ELA or Reading professional development.
  • A Master’s degree in ELA or Reading is preferred.
  • A strong working knowledge of the Common Core State Standards for ELA or Reading for Grades K–8 (or comparable state standards).
  • Fluency with using digital tools including online assessments, and a high level of comfort discussing and applying data with teachers and leaders.
  • A strong understanding of principles of adult learning and how to apply them to professional development.
  • Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.
  • Proven organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer and internet skills, including knowledge of Office programs and online meeting programs (e.g. Zoom/WebEx).

Qualifications

  • Biliteracy in English and another language is required.
  • A strong background in Reading and ELA is preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate of $30 for internal training and travel time, and $65 for facilitating professional learning sessions.
  • Compensation for travel expenses, including travel points for hotel and flights.
  • Temporary and per diem employees who average and maintain at least 30 hours of work per week may become eligible for medical coverage after an initial waiting period.
  • All per-diem employees are eligible for accrued sick time.

Pay

$30 per hour for internal training and travel time, and $65 per hour for facilitating professional learning sessions.

Schedule

Hours are scheduled on an as-needed basis, paid hourly. Schedule is highly dependent on customer demand, with professional development usually scheduled with partners during normal school hours. Peak times of the year include August through October and then again January and February, although we deliver professional development throughout the school year. Given the as-needed and heavily seasonal nature of this role, we do not recommend maintaining a full-time role that operates during school hours, simultaneous with the Per Diem Educational Consultant role at Curriculum Associates.
