At Apple Rehab Middletown, we are a 70-bed skilled nursing facility located in the heart of Middletown, CT. Strategically situated near Route 9 and close to downtown, our facility offers easy accessibility and convenient public transportation options.

Job Opportunity

As a Cook Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in leading and supervising the dietary personnel, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. You will collaborate with the Dietary Manager to oversee work assignments, contribute to performance evaluations, and assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the manager.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor dietary personnel, ensuring compliance with protocols and guidelines.
  • Prepare and serve meals tailored to residents' dietary requirements, in coordination with the Dietary Manager.
  • Contribute insights to production planning, including forecasting needs and recipe development.
  • Aid in the procurement and proper storage of food and equipment.
  • Ensure the dietary department consistently delivers visually appealing, high-quality meals within budget constraints.
  • Proficiently operate various kitchen equipment and adaptive tools for residents' specialized needs.
  • Respond promptly to residents' requests and needs, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Dietary Manager in planning and executing facility-wide special events.

Qualifications

  • Must hold Serv Safe Manager certification.
  • Ability to unload and stock groceries on shelves of various heights as well as lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Read, write, and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure and record data.
  • Attention to detail, good follow through skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
  • Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Patient, tactful, enthusiastic, and positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
  • Communicate with residents, staff, and family members in a professional manner.
