Per Diem Aide Food Service

About the Role

Prepare and operate tray assembly line for patient feedings. Operate dish machine, prepare special nourishments, and deliver trays. Serve and distribute food, supplies, snacks, and nourishments. Serve at the service counter in the Employee Cafeteria and/or catering area. Perform cashier duties in the Employee Cafeteria, including ringing up sales, making correct change, and adhering to cashiering policies for various customer groups (hospital employees, medical doctors, students, volunteers, etc.). Maintain sanitation and replenishment in the kitchen, cafeteria, and patient service areas according to departmental and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate dish machine and prepare special nourishments.
• Prepare and deliver trays, including late trays.
• Serve and distribute food, supplies, snacks, and nourishments.
• Serve at the service counter in the Employee Cafeteria and catering area.
• Perform cashier duties, including:
  • Ringing up sales accurately and making correct change.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of prices and menu items.
  • Adhering to cashiering policies for various customer groups (hospital employees, food service employees, medical doctors, students, residents, volunteers, clergy, and guests).
  • Ensuring accurate entry of information into the cash register.
• Perform sanitation and replenishment tasks in the kitchen, cafeteria, and patient service areas.
• Replenish stations such as salad bar, soda, pastry, cold food, and hot entrees in the Employee Cafeteria.

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand written instructions.
• No previous experience required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Three to six months of on-the-job training and orientation.
• Food Handler or similar food safety certification preferred.
• Analytical ability to read and understand instructions, perform basic arithmetic, and compare numbers and letters.

About the Team

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state-designated trauma center located on the Paterson campus. Pay

St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, and skills. The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation.
