PEPI Manager M&A - EdTech (Open to all US locations)
About the role
The Merger Integration & Carve-Outs (MI&C) service line within Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) practice focuses on serving upper middle market and large-cap private equity firms. Typical mandates include synergy assessment or integration planning for organizations in the Education industry, such as K-12 for-profit and non-profit sectors, skilled trade schools, and other training and development businesses.
Responsibilities
- Provide service excellence by identifying key client business issues, determining client needs, and developing recommendations in the context of the overall engagement.
- Evaluate and validate analysis.
- Lead workstreams or focus areas within the Integration Management Office (IMO) such as synergies, TSA, blueprinting, day 1 readiness, executive reporting, integration roadmap, communications, organizational design, etc.
- Drive performance improvement in key areas like strategic planning, operational optimization, back office consolidation, supply chain integration, IT/reporting, customer and channel management.
- Track progress against day 1 and/or day 100 objectives, adjust integration strategies or people as required.
Requirements
- At least 5-8+ years of professional experience (corporate and/or consulting) – ideally encompassing merger integration, business transformation, and/or change management.
- Operating experience in, and/or exposure to, the for-profit education sector.
- Understanding of key value drivers for investing in for-profit education.
- Knowledge of major trade-offs, trends, and issues in for-profit education – both in and beyond the US.
- Experience in integration planning and divestitures is a plus, but not required.
- Experience in leading one or more workstreams in a business transformation.
- Deep functional expertise in one or more of the following areas: finance & accounting operations, HR/Organizational design, role and job analysis, leadership and stakeholder involvement, communications planning and management, supply chain/operations, Salesforce effectiveness, marketing optimization, pricing/margin/mix optimization, knowledge management and transfer.
- Success at both planning initiatives (leading to growth in revenue and/or profitability) and driving the initiatives operationally.
- Experience in program management and leadership.

Full-time positions and part-time positions are offered with regular employees working 30 or more hours per week. Benefits include healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverages, as well as a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Employees are also eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, sick time, federal holidays, and parental leave. The salary range is $125,000 - $190,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. A discretionary bonus program is also available based on individual and firm performance.
