About the role

This is a lateral position for a Detective in the Special Victim Unit (SVU). The SVU investigates crimes involving vulnerable victims, including domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and crimes against the elderly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough criminal investigations of complex and sensitive cases involving vulnerable victims.
• Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects; collect and preserve evidence.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation for court proceedings.
• Testify in court as a witness or case agent.
• Collaborate with prosecutors, social service agencies, and community organizations.
• Provide support and resources to victims throughout the investigative process.
• Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in handling all case-related information.
• Participate in ongoing training related to special victim investigations.

Requirements

• Must be a current certified Arizona peace officer or eligible for Arizona POST certification through reciprocity.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer, with at least one (1) year in a detective or investigative role.
• Experience in investigating crimes against vulnerable populations is highly desirable.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Arizona driver’s license.
• Must successfully pass a background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, and medical examination.

Pay

Salary range: $75,000 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

• Full-time position.
• Typically works Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call and overtime requirements.
