PeopleSoft Developer

About the Role

The PeopleSoft Developer is responsible for using approved programming languages, operating systems, and source code to create, enhance, and maintain application solutions that meet identified functional and non-functional business requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support PeopleSoft applications, including:
  • PeopleSoft Financials (eProcurement, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Asset Management, Budget, General Ledger)
  • PeopleSoft HR/Payroll (Recruiting, HR employment history, position management, leave accrual, benefits, time tracking, payroll, tax, and W-2 processing and reporting)
  • PeopleSoft Workflow, Security, and Internet Architecture
• Work with relational databases (DB2 and SQL Server).
• Perform PeopleSoft system maintenance, upgrades, and customizations.
• Develop applications using Visual Basic, Crystal Reports, nVision, XML Publisher, C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and MVC Frameworks.
• Design and develop web applications using REST and SOAP web services, XML/XSLT, and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
• Follow the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including system requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation.
• Code and build application solutions from specifications provided by Requirements Analysts and Application Integration Architects.
• Develop and execute unit tests and functional test coverage for assigned coding changes.
• Perform testing of application software modifications and review results for accuracy.
• Follow processes and procedures to ensure the quality of technical solutions.
• Lead and/or assist with presentations in code reviews.
• Participate in broader technical reviews to detect defects in requirements, design, code, test cases, or other project artifacts.
• Document all code changes.
• Support Senior Developers in compiling detailed activity task management, including recording work effort and providing time estimates.
• Assist in the design and development of proof-of-concept and prototype application environments.
• Develop and maintain code repositories using established version management approaches (e.g., Subversion).
• Follow code construction fundamentals, including coding practices, data usage guidelines, control-related concepts, and error-detection practices.
• Assist in identifying and evaluating risks; participate in mitigation and control activities.
• Provide on-call support for production systems and applications.
• Perform production support activities, including incident and problem management, code corrections, upgrades, and patches.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing, maintaining, and supporting PeopleSoft applications.
• Experience with PeopleSoft Financials, HR/Payroll, PeopleTools, Workflow, Security, and Internet Architecture.
• Experience supporting PeopleSoft Financials modules (eProcurement, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Asset Management, Budgeting, General Ledger).
• Experience supporting HRMS processes (Recruiting, HR employment history, position management, leave accrual, benefits administration, time tracking, payroll, tax processing, W-2 reporting).
• Experience performing PeopleSoft system maintenance, upgrades, patches, enhancements, and customizations.
• Experience developing applications using C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and MVC Frameworks.
• Experience developing web applications using REST and SOAP web services, XML/XSLT, and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
• Strong knowledge of DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server relational databases.
• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio IDE and source code management tools (e.g., Subversion).
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), object-oriented programming principles, and UML.
• Experience developing, debugging, testing, documenting, and implementing application enhancements.
• Experience creating and executing unit tests and supporting functional testing activities.
• Experience participating in code reviews and technical reviews.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to support production systems, including incident management, code fixes, upgrades, patches, and on-call support.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PeopleSoft reporting tools (Crystal Reports, nVision, XML Publisher, Visual Basic).
• Experience supporting purchased commercial software systems, including upgrades and customizations.
• Knowledge of client/server and web-based application architectures.
• Experience following established coding standards, version management, and software development best practices.
• Experience developing proof-of-concept or prototype solutions.
• Experience estimating development effort and supporting project task planning.
• Experience maintaining code repositories and version control processes.
• Experience identifying project risks and participating in mitigation activities.
• Experience working in large enterprise or government IT environments.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating effectively with technical and business teams.

Schedule

Hybrid: Minimum 2 days in office per week (flexibility required to be on-site 5 days if management team requires).

Contract length: 6 months, contract-to-hire.
