As our People Generalist at Serval, you'll own the programs and day-to-day operations that keep our team taken care of and the People function running smoothly. From benefits administration and onboarding to employee experience and HR operations, you'll build these programs from the ground up as we scale. This is a foundational role in a growing People function, and the right person will leave their fingerprints on how Serval operates for years to come. What You'll Do People Operations Own core HR operations including employee records, HRIS administration, data integrity, and complianceStay ahead of obligations across benefits and employment law: COBRA, ACA, ERISA, and California wage-and-hourPartner with Finance on compensation changes, offer approvals, and headcount trackingCreate the documentation, processes, and systems that allow the People function to scale without breaking Benefits Administration Administer health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and commuter benefitsLead open enrollment, qualifying life events, and broker renewalsServe as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and escalations Onboarding & Employee Experience Own new hire onboarding from signed offer through the first 90 days — paperwork, I-9/E-Verify, benefits enrollment, and day-one readinessPartner with Recruiting, IT, and Finance to ensure every new hire is set up and ready on day oneBuild and improve the employee experience at every touchpoint — onboarding, lifecycle moments, and offboardingAutomate onboarding, benefits changes, and recurring People requests using Serval's own platform What You'll Need 2-5 years in People Operations or HR Generalist roles, ideally at a high-growth startupHands-on experience administering benefits and managing HR operations end to endWorking knowledge of HRIS platforms such as Rippling, Gusto, Workday, or similarSolid understanding of federal and California employment, benefits, and wage-and-hour rulesHigh attention to detail and sound judgment with confidential informationBased in or willing to work from our San Francisco HQ five days a week Nice to Have Experience as an early or first People hire at a startupMulti-state benefits and compliance experienceInterest in using AI and automation to improve People workflows What We Offer Impact: Be a key player in shaping the success of our product and company.Growth: Build a fundamentally new AI product offering with the support of our experienced team and investors.
