About the role

Tacoma Public Utilities is building a People & Culture function, and we're hiring for our team. This role keeps our people programs running — the Mentor Program, the Internship Program, and the division equity committees, along with the fellowship, outreach, retention, and employee engagement work that sits alongside them. These programs are built and running. Keeping them running well is yours — the planning, the coordination, the communications, the records, and the reporting that tells us how things are actually going. We're looking for someone who plans well, finishes what they start, communicates so that people always know what's coming next, and is just as good at carrying out a plan. The point of all of it is to help TPU attract, develop, and keep talented people, and to make belonging a part of how we build things rather than a separate effort. If you like taking a good idea or concept and turning it into something that runs, we'd like to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and coordinating people programs (Mentor, Internship, fellowship, outreach, retention, employee engagement)
  • Supporting division equity committees and advisory groups
  • Managing communications and ensuring stakeholders know upcoming activities
  • Maintaining records and reporting on program performance
  • Tracking workforce analytics, dashboards, and performance measurement

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or directly related field

Minimum Experience: 4 years of progressively responsible analytical and/or program coordination/management work in area related to assignment (e.g., workforce programs, employee engagement, project administration, human resources, communications, event planning, organizational initiatives)

Relevant education and experience may substitute for one another on a year-for-year basis.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating projects or programs from start to finish, including building and following a work plan
  • Experience administering mentorship, internship, fellowship, workforce development, outreach, retention, or employee engagement programs
  • Experience supporting committees, advisory groups, or employee resource groups
  • Experience with workforce analytics, dashboards, reporting, performance measurement, and program tracking systems
  • Experience in a public sector, utility, government, educational, or highly regulated environment
  • Training or certification in project management, facilitation, workforce development, change management, or data analytics

Pay

Hourly Rate: $47.25 - $66.50

Annual Salary: $98,280.00 - $138,320.00
