About the role

Responsibilities
- Manage core HR programs, including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, compensation support, benefits administration, leave management, and HR compliance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on policies, procedures, employee concerns, workplace expectations, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with federal, Maryland, and local employment laws and regulations, including appropriate documentation and recordkeeping.
- Partner with leadership to assess staffing needs, support workforce planning, and improve retention and employee engagement.
- Lead or support full-cycle recruiting efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offer support, and onboarding.
- Administer HR policies and recommend updates that promote consistency, accountability, and a positive employee experience.
- Support performance review processes, coaching managers on goal setting, feedback, documentation, and development planning.
- Career development and professional growth opportunities.
- Coordinate employee training initiatives, including compliance training, manager training, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems data while protecting confidentiality and sensitive information.
- Analyze HR metrics and trends to identify opportunities for process improvement and inform leadership decisions.
Requirements
- 3 years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations, recruiting, compliance, benefits, and HR operations.
- Working knowledge of federal and Maryland employment laws and HR best practices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Experience using HRIS, payroll, applicant tracking, or related HR technology systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience managing employee relations investigations and advising managers on performance or disciplinary matters.
- Comfort using HR data and reporting to recommend practical business solutions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate's degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Professional certification in Human Resources (PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP).
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of federal and Maryland employment laws and HR best practices.
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, applicant tracking, or related HR technology systems.
