About the Role
The Waterfront Rescue Mission, recognized in 2025 as one of the Best Christian Workplaces in the country, is seeking a positive, highly productive, safety-minded, and team-oriented Guest Concierge. This role supports day-to-day operations so ministry staff can focus on teaching, counseling, and preaching. Performs all reasonably related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Greets and engages all guests and clients entering Mission property in a friendly and professional manner and directs them to their destination accordingly.
- Maintains excellent situational awareness to identify and monitor suspicious activity, safety hazards, and other campus-related concerns.
- Enforces access control and visitor management policies at assigned location(s), such as intake and check-out locations.
- Adheres to and enforces all WRM rules, regulations, procedures, policies, and standards of conduct.
- Maintains friendly and professional working relationships with vendors and contractors visiting Mission property and ensures they are taken to the correct location.
- Monitors the WRM vendor check-in and check-out log.
- Observes and monitors entry and exit locations at the Mission.
- Assists with de-escalation of client and/or guest-related conflicts.
- Assists with client check-in and check-out processes.
- Serves all clients and guests in a gracious, friendly, and helpful manner, complying with Guidelines for Addressing Aggressive Clients and fulfilling the AIM of Waterfront: “To demonstrate God’s goodness by providing rescue and recovery services in Jesus’ name.”
- Provides additional Mission support as necessary.
- Some travel may be necessary for training and temporary duty.
- Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other Mission management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 0 months to 2 years of related experience and/or training in concierge support or social work-related programs, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the nonprofit social work industry.
- Must exemplify and model Christian behaviors and values, with high levels of ethics, honesty, and character.
- Must be skilled and/or willing to be trained in verbal and non-violent conflict de-escalation/resolution techniques.
- Must have a valid government-issued driver’s license and be insurable by WRM’s insurance carrier.
- Must be willing to sign WRM's Statement of Faith.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to manipulate, talk, and listen.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.
- May be required to assist with client conflicts, including de-escalating volatile situations.
- May occasionally be required to lift and carry up to and over 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
