Pennwood Cyber Charter School - Business Teacher

About the Role

Pennwood Cyber Charter School is seeking a highly qualified, state-certified Business Teacher to join our staff. This remote position allows you to work from your home office in Pennsylvania, delivering instructional programming to students through telephone, internet, and various curriculum tools. You will collaborate with learning coaches, students, and staff to ensure the success of our cyber learning program.

Responsibilities

• Complete all grading, create progress reports, and conduct Caretaker/Learning Coach conferences in a timely manner.
• Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction.
• Review curriculum and devise differentiated approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding (working directly with students and Caretakers/Learning Coaches).
• Communicate regularly with Caretakers, Learning Coaches, students, and other teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans, score assessments, provide feedback, suggest instructional strategies, monitor assignment completion, and coach special projects.
• Collaborate with other teachers to ensure student progress, provide a central point of contact for Caretakers/Learning Coaches, and distribute tasks among the team.
• Develop a detailed knowledge of the K-12 curriculum, particularly the courses you are responsible for.
• Support students and Caretakers with alternate strategies and additional assistance for daily assignments and projects.
• Maintain up-to-date student records, including cumulative files, online student/family information, attendance, and contact logs.
• Coordinate social activities and field trips, integrating them into the curriculum.
• Devise and implement virtual methods to create and maintain a "school community."
• Participate in State Testing organization and administration as directed.
• Engage in student recruiting sessions and marketing efforts requiring teacher representation.
• Ensure students and families receive appropriate communications and that students are making adequate progress toward established goals.
• Attend field trips and community activities for families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Certified to teach Business in Pennsylvania with a Pennsylvania State Certification in secondary education for Business, Computer, and Information Technology (BCIT).
• Experience with Professional Learning Communities.
• Strong technology skills, particularly with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Customer-focused approach with a high degree of flexibility.
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven track record as a team player.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing events (may require overnight travel).
• Ability to work remotely, including some occasional evening hours to support families.
• Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication.
